Focus HBCU College Fair

HBCU College Fair

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., hosted a FOCUS HBCU college fair on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  A group of juniors and seniors from Johnsonville High School attended this event.  This event provided students, especially students of color, with access to information that they may not normally receive from their high school counselors about the HBCU experience.

During the FOCUS HBCU fair, students got the opportunity to visit and talk with admissions officers from the various HBCUs.  There were over 25-30 HBCUs in attendance from the following states:  Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi and other states.

Also, during the FOCUS HBCU fair, there were a few of our students that were accepted to an HBCU during the event.  The students enjoyed talking with the various representatives from the different HBCUs.

Thanks to Mr. Sam Tuten, Principal and Mrs. Allana Prosser, District Superintendent for supporting the students on this event.  Also, thanks to Mr. Clarence Davis, bus driver, for transporting the students safely on this trip.
