Francis Marion University will be coming to JHS on Monday, September 23rd to hold their annual FMU Interview Day. An FMU representative will meet with any SENIOR interested in attending Francis Marion University for the Fall of 2020. The FMU rep will review your high school record and standardized test scores and give you an admissions decision on the spot! Your $41 college application fee will be waived and they will also discuss scholarship opportunities that you may be eligible for at FMU!

Any SENIOR interested in interviewing with the FMU representative needs to sign up in the guidance office with Ms. Tracey Washington so she can set up the interview appointment schedule and prepare your school records for the interview. The deadline to register is Thursday, September 19th.

FMU College Fair: Francis Marion University will be hosting the 2019 Pee Dee Area Educational Opportunity College Fair on Monday, October 14th, 2019 on the campus of Francis Marion University. This is the area’s largest college fair with more than 50 colleges and universities who will be in attendance. Any junior or senior who would like to attend the Pee Dee Area Educational Opportunity College Fair, should see Mr. Dicks in the guidance office for a permission form.

College Application Information for Seniors:

All seniors are also reminded to start the college application process for the college/university of their choice. Most colleges/universities have online applications that can be completed quickly and easily. Each college/university has its own individual cutoffs and deadlines so pay close attention to these deadlines. As a general rule, October 15th is considered the best deadline to have all of your college applications completed and submitted! Once you have submitted your college applications, please let Ms. Washington in the guidance office know where you have applied so she can send them your standardized test scores. You will also need to request your transcript through Parchment to complete the application process. If Ms. Washington is not available, fill out the guidance request form in the front office and leave it in her box.

SENIORS are also reminded to check out the Scholarship Board outside the back door of the Guidance Office on a regular basis for scholarship information and opportunities that come through her office.

Also check out the guidance web page on the school website for more information and links to college and scholarship opportunities.
