Teacher of the Month

Mrs. Stevie Broach

1. What do you feel is the most rewarding part of teaching?

The most rewarding part of teaching is watching kids have an “ah ha” moment! When kids are working super hard to understand a topic and something clicks so that they see the “bigger picture” is the best part about teaching!

2. How do you hope your students will remember you?

I hope students will remember me as someone who was “on their side," nice, compassionate, and fair.

3. What are the two most important qualities that a good teacher should possess? Why?

Two qualities that teachers should have are humor and humility. We need humor in education because that is what helps build rapport with kids. We have to be silly and goofy sometimes because it helps kids understand, and it makes learning relevant to their lives. We also have to have humility because often times it’s hard to admit you are wrong. As educators, we NEVER want to admit we aren’t always right. Sometimes we have to take a step back and say, “You know what? You are right” or “I don’t know the answer to that, but I’ll try and find it out.” We must be humble in our profession so that we can make a difference in students' lives.
